Family Advocates (FAs) work along side families and their children to develop goals, provide referrals, implement family and community strengthening opportunities, and support comprehensive health services. The FAs are also responsible for recruiting and enrolling families and their children in our preschool programs by being out in the community and promoting our early childhood services.

Recently, UMHS, Inc staff members (Family Advocates and the FACE team) attended the annual Oregon Parenting Educators Conference in Corvallis, OR. This conference focused around joining together parenting educators and family support professionals for professional development, networking, and restoration. The conference hosted practical and inspirational sessions that will enhance our work with parents and families, learned from national speakers and authors, local colleagues, and researchers.
This year’s conference, STRETCH & STRENGTHEN: Reaching New Heights for Children, Parents, Families & Communities through Parenting Education, challenged participants to stretch into new areas of learning through a variety of new topics, and strengthen our practice in deep-dive workshops. 💙 #UMHS
Recientemente, los miembros del personal de UMHS, Inc (Family Advocates y el equipo de FACE) asistieron a la Conferencia Anual de Educadores de Padres de Oregón en Corvallis, Oregón. Esta conferencia se centró en reunir a educadores de crianza y profesionales de apoyo familiar para el desarrollo profesional, la creación de redes y la restauración. UMHS, Inc. recently attended the 2nd annual Early Childhood Resource and Screening Fair in Enterprise. This fair was geared towards offering families information and resources available in Wallowa county. With the help of Jayne, Health Resource Specialist, we were able to provide vision and hearing screenings to children who attended. In addition, we provided information about Head Start, the Oregon Health Plan and other services provided by UMHS. 💙#UMHS

At UMHS, Inc. we partner with families to bring learning opportunities in fun and creative ways. Last month, our classrooms at the Neal Early Learning Center hosted a Family Night focused on healthy dental practices. Families came together to learn about how to help keep their children’s teeth clean and the children were able to create their own mouths to practice dental cleaning. This was a great opportunity for families to spend time learning together.
